by Jan Shoop

Today’s Reflections article is about the word commitment.

The Oxford Dictionary of Current English defines commitment: Oxford Dictionary of Current English
1.  dedication to a cause or policy
2.  a promise
3.  an engagement or duty that restricts freedom of action

Two of my favorite quotes that define commitment: http://www.quotegarden.com/

“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”
Vince Lombardi

What is your commitment to family and friends?
“Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”

What is our commitment to help Japan recover from the earthquake and tsunami?

Should we have a commitment to provide great education for our children?
