Quotes & Reflection on being Quirky

by Jan Shoop
Today’s quotes and reflection are on being Quirky.
Did you know that the word quirky is defined as, “having peculiar or unexpected habits or qualities,” by the Oxford Dictionary of Current English?

Did you know that quirky is synonymous with: unconventional, unorthodox, unusual, peculiar and outlandish?

I love the word quirky. It has a fun sound and reminds me of how individual we all are and how valuable that trait is.

Here are some quirky quotes from kids that I have known:
A student came running up to me with a loose tooth and said,
“Ms. Shoop my tooth is falling down!”

A group of elementary girls walked into my office (the principal’s office) and said,
“Ms. Shoop we need to talk!”

I was touring a group of visitors through the school and
asked a student to explain why we have a garden and he said,
“The garden is where we go when we get into trouble and need to think.”

A kindergarten student introduced herself to a very important visitor saying,
“When I grow up I want to be a butterfly.”
