Quotes & Reflection on Unity

Today’s quotes and reflection are on Unity.

Dictionaries define unity as “the state of being united or forming a whole.” I define unity as a team that comes together and works perfectly as a whole. One of the best examples of unity is a school where all the teachers work together as a team and support each other and the mission, values and goals of the school. I have also seen outstanding examples of unity in the classrooms of some of the best teachers.

Last week, the teachers at StarShine Academy, where I am Superintendent, came together as a team and I witnessed the unity of the group by the end of the week of training. During the week, between all the meetings, teachers formed bonds with each other, worked together on lesson plans and helped set up classrooms. I saw parents, at Orientation Night, united with teachers and kids to ‘form a whole’ that will carry the school through the year. Everyone worked tirelessly through the week to accomplish unity.

I’d like to share some of my favorite quotes on unity:
“Behind an able man there are always other able men.”
Chinese Proverb

“The truth is that teamwork is at the heart of great achievement.”

“There are no problems we cannot solve together,
and very few that we can solve by ourselves.”
