A Salute to StarShine Volunteers

With the start of a new school year, principals, teachers and students are all on board. After the first month of settling in it will be time for the volunteers to return.
We are hoping that all of the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church volunteers from last year will return. And that others will join in. Last year we had an outstanding group of men and women who gave their time and expertise to assist the children at StarShine.
One volunteer who stands out is Helen. I have watched as she has tutored third grade students in reading, spelling and math and she is truly a gift to the school. Helen has helped me in many other ways.  She is a very good friend of mine and she has always answered my calls for help. When I needed assistance in both the young girls’ Manners Matter Club and the high school girls’ Fashion/Etiquette Club she stepped in.  A most fun occasion was when we had a Spa Day for the Manner Matter girls. She joined me in giving the girls manicures. Thanks to Helen, painting all those little fingernails with orange, pink, green or blue polish was a great experience.
Thank you Helen and all the volunteers.
